Only 15 minutes from downtown Nevada City in Cascade Shores is a 5 acre spring fed lake complete with water lily pads and swaying water grasses, all surrounded by tall pines and white cliffs.

This peaceful site is abundant in wild life.  An easy trail circles the lake, where you might spot flying squirrels, geese and turtles, along with the usual lizards and frogs.  The lake is perfect for a swim May – September,  there’s even a small island for kids to explore. Fishing is allowed for kids 14 and under.  It is a perfect setting for birthdays, reunions, company outings, weddings, or any casual gathering of friends and family.

The amenities also include:

v     Covered BBQ pavilion with large BBQ Pit & party lights

v     Many electrical outlets in pavilion area and kitchen shed

v     Toilet facilities, rinse water (sorry, no drinking water)

v     2 outbuildings, one with refrigerator & kitchen supplies, and one storage shed

v     Children’s playground with swings, climbing fort, kid sized tables & umbrella’s

v     sand volleyball court and horseshoe pit

v     large grassy area for games or wedding site, plus a sandy beach

v     7 fixed picnic tables, easily seating 50

v     ample parking area

All of this is available for the nominal fee of $75 to CSHA members, $100 to non-members.  Additional rental items are available for a small fee.

From Nevada City take Broad St. to Boulder St. to Red Dog, left on Banner Quaker Hill Rd (see Cascade Shores sign) follow BQH Rd past General Store and make right onto Gas Canyon.  Follow Gas Canyon down hill, to Lost Mine Lake on left.
